Two young boys stole a bag of orange from the village market. They decided to go to the nearest cemetery to share the loot, But they had to scale a big gate to enter the cemetery. As they were scaling the gate two oranges fell out of the bag and were left behind by the fence. A farmer, who was coming from his farm near the cemetery fence, heard the following conversation going on in the cemetery: One for me - One for you"He began to wonder what was going on in the cemetery at that late evening, he immediately ran as fast as he can to the local priest. He said "Father James come with me and witness God and Satan sharing corpses at the Cemetery"- They both ran back to the cemetery and stood by the fence and the voices continued: "One for me - One for you" Suddenly one of the voice said "Let's get the two at the fence"

OBJ self vex and says " meself wan call 9ja o! I wan talk to Goodluck, Atiku, and Everybody". OBJ talks for about 15 hours then asks Devil, "how much? Devil says 5 naira. OBJ was surprised and asks Devil "why na?" Devil says "Hell to Hell, na local call"

Giagerry came up with her fun idea on her blog. We, the people of "blogsville" are going to write a story together. Everyone, bloggers and non bloggers alike can participate. Here are the rules....

Rules

Humor is very welcome but please keep it PG 13 :)

You can take it to your various blogs, but I would also love to have it up on mine whenever it is been updated.

As opposed to emailing your lines, madame sting and Bola came up with the idea of dropping your lines as comments so the next person can easily know where it ends and pick it up from there.

I intend to have your names/id next to your lines added(just as I have done with mine) but feel free to use the open id option and use "anonymous" if you want to be kept anonymous too.

Also while dropping your lines, read it carefully, edit it well so I wont have to work on your added lines, so it is strictly yours.(Let it make sense abeg). Feel free to use new paragraphs or spaces, or let me know if you would like me to add them to your lines.

Well that's it for now, I'd keep the rules updated on every post and PLEASE send me more ideas of format if you have any!! Such as what to call it as in chapters, titles etc.

I know I called it "story by blogsville", but please and pretty please it is not limited to blogsville. Everyone is invited to join, in fact i would be glad if non bloggers joined too! :)

Here's the story so far
She had come from a very dramatic and confusing past of "love", she had signed off from relationships because she had come to the conclusion that it was unnecessary to go through things like that at the ages between 18 and 20. She called it love, and soon after she called it plain drama. Danielle was in her final year and so far it had been going great, she had recommitted her life again to Christ, had managed to ~~forget~~ put behind all the issues she had gone through in the last 3years. All she looked forward to was getting done her undergraduate degree and getting the out of the UK. She was fed up, it reminded her so much of her past.(Giagerry)
She needed a new environment where she would meet new people and probably find someone that would be the direct opposite of her ex. Also she needed to focus on her christian life.(Bola)

This HOT Sunday afternoon after church, a christian brother runs to her screaming "sister Danielle Danielle" I saw you in my dream last night, I saw a revelation to marry you. That was the biggest joke of the century! Brother Samuel says this to every one ...everyone, every good looking girl! Did I mention that she's beautiful and full of life??(Abi) Danielle waited for brother Samuel to finish up his fairly common "dream speech" and then politely disengaged herself from the conversation with a smile and thanked Brother Sam for his revelation. As Danielle got to her car, she called Lucas, her best friend and spilled the latest gist. Lucas' silence said it all, Danielle took this silence as a hint to confirm what her girlfriends had been saying to her, "Truly guys and girls can't be best friends, one or both would fall for each other". Danielle had been trying to downplay this for too long, but Lucas' awkwardness was getting to her and after much deliberate ignorance, she decided to confront him.....(H)

"Lucas, remember one of the first conversations we had, when I had just broken up with Mark and I was spilling my heart out to you and crying so bad".

Lucas answered with a grunt, still not phased, Danielle continued.

"Well, I told you about how I appreciated your friendship so much and the fact that you were there to give me a shoulder to cry on, and I asked you to promise me that nothing would come between us", "Right now, that's exactly what is happening and it hurts, I miss my friend, you never listen to me anymore, I feel like I cannot tell you certain things because I do not want to hurt you".

Lucas opened his mouth to protest but then thought against it, he knew she was right, He was in love with his best friend and this love was killing their friendship. (BBB)

"Umm, hello Lucas...are you still there???" Danielle checked the screen of her blackberry
Lucas cleared his throat, "Yea, I'm here" He responded flatly.

"What's up with that yo! Every time I come to you with my man issues, you get quiet on me." Danielle rolled her eyes.

No response.

"Helllooooo"

"Danielle, my bad I'm watching TV. Can I call you back please?"

"Aren't we meeting up for lunch in a few?"

"Oh yeah, about that let's reschedule."

Danielle hung up the phone without thinking twice. Lucas had been acting strange for the past couple of weeks, and she couldn't figure out why!
She shrugged and figured he was on his "man period" , so she'd give him some space. At this point of her life, she certainly could not afford to
loose such a good friend.

She sighed and walked angrily to her car. Her plans for the rest of day were now out of whack. She hated being alone, but oh well ice cream and movies would do the trick!(FabBlessings)

The next day, her phone rings ... "grin grin" "hello, it's Lucas"(Abi)
Danielle was unsure if to question him about yesterday after-all he was acting up the previous day. She shrugs the thought of and replied.

D: Hi bud watsup?

Lucas: Well nothing much.What's the excitement and when did you start calling me bud?

D: Uhmm I'm glad to hear from you but is everything okay?

L: Well yea just thought I check up on you..

D: *thinking to herself* bud is our usual nickname.. oh well

L: *thinking to himself*, I wonder if she is thinking what I am thinking (Unveilinggold)

Danielle wasn't used to awkward pauses in their conversations. She and Lucas could talk for hours and now they couldn't even get through 2 minutes of conversation.

"Lucas, you've been different and acting funny. What's going on?" She asked.

"Danielle, I don't know how to tell you this"

"What is it Lucas? You can tell me anything. I'm your best friend"

"Ok Bud, I'm sick. I have cancer" (Madame Sting)

D: CANCER??????? tufiakwa, olorun ma je....

L: Pardon me?

D: Oh the thing is, I remember you made this joke on April 1st

L: Well, I dont know how to say what I want to say..Maybe I should just spill it. (Unveilinggold)

"You see bud, it was never a joke, I chose to say it on that day because I only heard it the night before. Also I had not fully grasped it yet and I thought a laugh or two about it would help. I had not fully digested the news as at then. You remember by the end of that saturday when you called and asked when I would say the words "April fools day" to you"?

Now Danielle heard the seriousness in his voice, at this point she hoped for a joke to be the next line as she replied with a shaky voice, "Yes I remember"

"Well I never said so, I never did because it wasnt a prank. But I chose to laugh it off with you when I heard your voice and hoped the doctor's report would all go away by the next morning. Well it did not. Its been two months since then and still the same report"

Danielle breathed fast as tears rolled down her eyes on the other side of the phone and replied "I am coming over, I'd be there in a few"

Which way to go?

Thanks and welcome to all my new followers. I have so many plans and ideas for this blog but i'm at a cross roads. I have tried to solicit help but that hasn't worked out too well, so i have resigned myself to running this blog myself. The main problem i'm having is what direction to focus this blog on. I need to do stuff that is sustainable, meaning when school starts back in August, i will be able to keep up. I'm not really interested in doing a Nigerian entertainment blog because there are enough of those around and they do a pretty good job plus i would not be able to keep up.

I still want my focus to be Nigeria/Africa but i'm yet to settle on a clear direction and purpose, which is never a good thing. I am honestly surprised that people like this blog enough to follow it. That means i'm doing something right, but i'm not sure what :). While i'm trying to figure it out, i welcome suggestions. Consider it your christian duty for the day and your reward will be waiting for you in heaven....lol

I had the pleasure of talking with 9jaFoodie of Modern African Cuisine which features African food with a modern flare.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am a Revenue Analyst by profession, an Economist by education, a CPA(CMA) in training and a food lover by blood malfunction (my love for food is seriously abnormal)

How did you first become interested in food?

As a little girl, I used to watch my mum slave away in the kitchen, literarily, she spent most of her day there, I didn’t like it, I wanted something different for my adult life, that got me interested in food experimentation, prepping and time management.

Tell us a little bit about your blog and what inspired you to be a food blogger?

My blog is called “Modern African Cuisine; M.A.C”, it features mostly Nigerian recipes; ultimately I want it to feature food from all over the continent. I had always cooked, taken pictures and all, I decided to start blogging when I saw a foodnetwork.ca article on West African Cuisine that said “Many dishes are similar to a stew, with poorer quality lamb and goats being used as protein” I was appalled by it, and I realized there are a lot of things people are ignorant about Africa, our food just happens to be one of them, So I decided to start a blog to educate and inspire African COOKS.

Your blog features mostly Nigerian cuisine, what other types of cuisine do you enjoy cooking?

I enjoy Food from all over Africa, I also love Asian cooking techniques, I think they have done exceptionally well in making food interesting.

How often do you cook and who ends up eating all the obviously delicious meals featured on your blog?

I cook often, 2-3 times a week depending on the season. I have 2 very supportive roommates who I use as tasters (shout out to Chi n Ada).

What would do say has been the most difficult meal you have ever cooked?

Difficult..humm… Gbegiri (Yoruba soup made from beans) there are just too many things that can go wrong.

What is your most favorite ingredient to cook with and why?

Basil!!! I LOVE fresh thai basil. It brings out the best in most dishes

What is your least favorite ingredient to cook with and why?

Rapini; I just never get It right

If you could be a spice/seasoning which would you be and why?

Lol…. I will be salt; it’s very essential and it defines most dishes. You love to hate it but you can’t. Yeahhh… I think salt is badass.

If you could be a dish, which would you be and why?

I will be a bowl of edikangIkong; because my MrMr loves it

Do you agree that food is the way to a man’s heart?

Lol…well, I don’t think so, I think good personality trumps anything else; it doesn’t hurt to cook well though. I mean, you can always get a personal Chef if you are not so good in the kitchen, but there is nothing like a “personal personality”

Where did you learn how to cook?

I learn from everyone around me.

Puff-puff

Contrary to most Nigerian cooks, you are very good at providing detailed recipes. How is that? You know our mothers never taught us how to cook with detailed measurements of ingredients.
Lol.. Good point, we never used measurements back home. But my goal is to make cooking easier and less time consuming, so I keep that in mind when I cook, so as to prevent mistakes and re-dos, I try to provide the best measurements possible

Given the fact that you don’t live in Nigeria; do you have difficulty obtaining ingredients for your dishes? Do you find that you often have to substitute ingredients? How do you work around that?

Yes, its difficult sourcing out ingredients, I discovered that we use very similar ingredients with the Chinese, often called something different though, so I frequent my local Asian store often with the botanical name of what I am looking for in mind. We also have an African store in the city.

You have featured some drink recipes, how much have delved into making drinks? Is it something you see yourself really getting into?

I love Mixology, it will most likely be my first capital venture into the commercial food market. As work life balance/time becomes so essential, food on the go becomes increasingly relevant. I think so much can be done with all the fresh/seasonal fruits and vegetables that we have in the tropics, I see a lot of potential in it.

What is your idea of a perfect meal?

Anything with MrMr, I don’t have a favorite food….. Heaven on earth will be a “LOCAL” food tasting trip all over Africa/Asia; I will love to just go around trying street food

Who is your favorite foodie and why?

I really like the work of Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, he has a way of working with food to translate them back to his Japanese root, I think knowing where you came from is very important for any ethnic chef. I also admire the presentation skills of Chef Ola at Alhaji’s cuisine

What has been your most memorable meal?

Fall 2009, I made a beef tenderloin with spring beans. Still the best thing I ever ate, I didn’t write down the recipe and I never want to recreate the meal

Advice, tips and suggestions for anyone looking to becoming a food blogger.

I am very new at food blogging; my blog is merely a year old so I don’t see myself as someone who is necessarily in a position to give advice lol. I do think you have to have your own style thou, it’s very important to have your own identity in the food world.

It's widely believed that men are more likely than women to cheat on their spouses, but power appears to be a more important factor than gender, according to the study published April 28 in the journal Psychological Science.
"There has been a lot of research in the past that indicates that gender is the strongest predictor of infidelity, but none of these studies have been done on powerful women," Joris Lammers, of Tilburg University in the Netherlands, said in a journal news release.
He and his team analyzed responses from 1,561 people who took part in an anonymous online survey. They were asked about their amount of power at work, confidence levels, and perception of risks associated with infidelity.
The survey revealed two significant findings, according to the researchers. First, there is a strong link between power and confidence, and the amount of confidence a person has is the strongest connection between power and cheating. Second, the gender of powerful people made no difference in past infidelity or their desire to be unfaithful.
The popular notion that men are more likely than women to cheat is simply due to the fact that men occupy more positions of power than women, according to Lammers.
"As more and more women are in greater positions of power and are considered equal to men, then familiar assumptions about their behavior may also change. This may lead to increased negative behaviors among women that in the past have been more common among men," he said.

Protect the Corpers

Yes, we are angry now but 1) How much longer will that anger last before we all go back to our merry lives and forget all about this? 2) How will anger actually lead to any solutions unless we do something?

The government has promised compensation for the families of those like Ukeoma AikFavour and Obinna Okpokiri who lost their lives, but this is not enough. Their deaths should not be in vain – it should lead a fundamental change in the way that the youth corps scheme is implemented.

The Future Project (which runs The Future Awards), in partnership with the National Youth Council, AIESEC, SleevesUp Nigeria and Friends of Aik and Paradigm Initiative Nigeria, has decided to take up this cause.

We are aware that many initiatives have been undertaken in the past – but we believe it is time to move from anger and protest and to make this a broad-based national campaign. It is also a fine opportunity for us to put our hard won democracy to work – to move from protest and activism to advocacy and productive democratic lobby.

SO, over the next nine-months, we are implementing a solution-oriented approach that involves 1) Engaging government on a policy level to restructure and reform the NYSC in order to protect corps members in the interim and then to completely overhaul the scheme in the long term so that it is actually useful to the nation. 2) Supporting this Policy Engagement with a wide-ranging public and media campaign to ensure pressure is sustained on the government.

Starting from tomorrow therefore, we are activating a #ProtectTheCorpers campaign that will involve both online and offline strategies to engage the authorities, the media and young people.
The strategy is simple –

1)      We are gathering 100, 000 signatures for a petition that is going to the Presidency with a 7-point demand (see demand below) to restructure the scheme and protect the corps members.

2)      Request an urgent meeting with the Minister of Youth and the Director-General of the NYSC to implement immediate action points.

3)      Begin an aggressive lobby at the legislature, especially the Senate and House Committees on Youth, towards include the deletion of the programme from the section of the Constitution and placing it as an Act of Parliament with a revamped structure, as recommended by the Senate Spokesperson, Ike Ekweremadu.

7-POINT DEMAND TO #PROTECTTHECORPERS
1.      Hotspots - Identify violence-prone “hot-spots” states and/or districts and ensure that corps member posting to these areas is voluntary. This voluntary posting must also come with an institutionalised incentive.

2.      Emergency Fund – Institute an NYSC Contingency Fundthat is easily accessible in pre-crisis situations. This Fund should be easily accessible at crisis periods.

3.      Decentralisation – The command structure of the NYSC should be devolved in terms of accommodation, welfare, wages and security to avoid red tape during times of crisis. State governments should be primarily responsible for welfare as well as security – including evacuation – at moments of crisis.

4.      Compensation - Corps Members posted out of their states of residence should be beneficiaries of a comprehensive life insurance policy as a compensation structure in time of unavoidable loss.

5.      Data Management – Digitise the database of corps member with location, contact information and total number per state. This is to ensure easy pre and post-crisis accessibility and tracking.

6.      Representation – Institutionalise an alternate platform for corps members to interact with administration on welfare and security. This structure will interface directly with the corps commandants and state level and the Director-General at federal level.

7.      Full-scale Reform – Constitute a National Youth Service Corps Reform Committee that will recommend full scale structural and policy reforms for the scheme and make binding recommendations to the Federal Government to be implemented into a National Youth Service Act.

Let’s ensure that we put our government under pressure immediately after the elections. This is a good place to start making our democracy work! Those ‘corpers’ cannot die in vain.

A woman charged with killing her pregnant friend and cutting the baby out of her body used a stun gun to immobilize her victim, an investigator on the case testified Tuesday.

Kathy Michelle Coy, 33, led expectant mother Jamie Stice, 21, into a wooded area off of a Kentucky freeway before brutally murdering her, Detective Chad Winn told the Warren County District Court during a preliminary hearing.

"She advised that she stunned her, her throat was slit, her wrists were slit, she was disemboweled," Winn testified, according to The Associated Press. "The baby was obviously cut out of her."

Shortly after committing the horrific crime, Coy drove to a friend's home with the infant claiming to have just given birth, Winn said. The friend, who immediately called an ambulance, told police that Coy was sitting on the placenta in her car without wearing any pants.

Once at the hospital, Coy produced the appalling evidence of her crime: a uterus, ovaries and placenta with umbilical accord still attached, Winn testified. Fearing the worst, the hospital called the police.

"There may have been a small chance that someone was still alive, but not likely," Winn said, according to the AP.

After abandoning the story that the child was hers, Coy tried to tell police she paid a stranger $550 for the boy.

In a search of Coy's home, police found a connection between her Facebook page and the profiles of two pregnant women - one of whom was Jamie Stice.

"I then asked Ms. Coy if that baby was Jamie Stice's," Winn said, according to the AP. "She answered 'I don't know.' I was alarmed by this."

Coy later told investigators exactly where to find Stice's remains, Winn said.

The shocking crime may have been in the works for months. Coy asked her daughter, 13, and her son, 14, to help her with the scheme, Winn testified, but neither would go along with it. A friend of Stice told reporters Coy, who claims to have had a miscarriage, pretended she was pregnant months before the crime and even stole a sonogram picture as proof.

The baby's father has said the child, named Isaiah, is in good condition. The case is now headed to the grand jury.

Lucinda V. Kinder, 32, of Coralville, has been arrested for domestic abuse assault without intent causing injury after police responded to an incident at her home.
Coralville Police responded to the scene for a 911 hangup, where they found that Kinder and the male victim had been arguing. Kinder allegedly punched the victim, scratched his left shoulder, and then bit his penis, police reports said.
Reports indicate that Kinder and the alleged victim have been in an intimate relation for over a year and reside together.
Kinder was being held Thursday at the Johnson County Jail on a $2,500 cash bond.

Senate to Review NYSC Scheme

Irked by the post election crisis in some parts of the north, culminating in the slaying of several members of the National Youth Service Corps, the deputy senate president,Senator Ike Ekweremadu has promised that the Senate would review the act establishing the NYSC scheme.

Ekweremadu said Saturday in Enugu that this had become imperative so as to make the scheme more efficient and to protect the lives of innocent Nigerian youths from the line of fire any time there is violence in any part of the country.

Ekweremadu also revealed that the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would meet after the gubernatorial and state assembly elections to discuss how political offices would be shared among the six geo-political zones of the country.
He said the current situation where the highest political office being enjoyed by the south-east is the position which he occupies would be reviewed at the forthcoming meeting.

Briefing newsmen, the deputy senate president expressed dismay over the killings in various parts of the north following the outcome of last weekend’s presidential election, noting that the NYSC scheme, established solely for national cohesion, had failed woefully.
He said reform was needed to enable it to play other significant roles in nation building.

As an interim measure, he suggested the reform that could make it compulsory for youths to serve in their geo-political zones until such a time when the country has achieved national cohesion and peace, stressing that this would reduce the level of carnage recorded by members participating in the scheme.

He insisted that it was unacceptable the level of risk innocent youths of the country are being exposed to in the name of the scheme, assuring that he would personally champion the move to review the scheme to play other roles when the upper legislative chamber resumes from recess.

He said, “It is saddening and we regret what has happened, something we never expected at this level of our development.
“It shows that effort to ensure national cohesion, peace and togetherness is yet to be achieved. Yet, the essence of NYSC in the first place is to have this kind of level of integration of our people from one part of the country to another.

“So based on what has happened in the recent past and last week, where young men and women involved in the scheme end up being victims of one conflict or the other, I suggest that we have a review of the NYSC programme because the act was made part and parcel of our constitution in 1979 and is enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.

“So when we go back, as we continue to review the 1999 Constitution, we will take away the NYSC legislation from the constitution, so it will be an ordinary legislation and that will help us make the necessary amendments that can change the mandate of the scheme.”
Ekweremadu, who called on Nigerians to shun violence and embrace peace especially in this period of Easter, said that the uprisings in the north had thrown the country back, explaining that government was desirous of fast-tracking development in the country.

He said it was unreasonable for people to embark on demonstrations over the elections adjudged free and fair even by international observers, adding that there are constitutional provisions for redress.

On the sharing of political positions, Ekweremadu said the ruling party was yet to take a decision on how the positions would be allocated, saying that the major focus of the PDP is to maintain its current winning streak in the outstanding elections.
“I want to assure you that once the elections are concluded, we would meet at the NEC level and decide on how to share these offices.
“Be rest assured that the south-east, which obviously played a major role in determining the victory of Mr. President would not be left behind. We are going to get our fair share in the scheme of things this time around.”

The Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, surprised guests present at the Muson Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Olaniwun Ajayi at the Muson Centre in Lagos. The book titled: ” Nigeria , Africa ‘s failed asset?” attracted many important dignitaries, intellectuals and some governors. The argument by discussants centered on whether or not the colonial masters laid the foundation for the problems Nigeria is currently facing. Many argued that the British loved the North and that was why it gave more than 50 percent of the National Assembly seats to the North at independence.
Sanusi, however, stole the show when he spoke. His speech was anchored on the plank that the British and Nigerian rulers are responsible for the state of the situation Nigeria finds itself today.
Below is his unedited speech.

“Let me start by saying that I am Fulani (laughter). My grandfather was an Emir and therefore I represent all that has been talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has written a book. And like all Nigerians of his generation, he has written in the language of his generation.
“My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a Nigerian. The problem with this country is that in 2009, we speak in the language of 1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the way he spoke, but I cannot forgive people of my generation speaking in that language.
“Let us go into this issue because there are so many myths that are being bandied around. Before colonialism, there was nothing like Northern Nigeria, Before the Sokoto Jihad, there was nothing like the Sokoto caliphate. The man from Kano regard himself as bakane. The man from Zaria was bazazzage. The man from Katsina was bakatsine. The kingdoms were at war with each other. They were Hausas, they were Muslims, they were killing each other.

“The Yoruba were Ijebu, Owo, Ijesha, Akoko, Egba. When did they become one? When did the North become one? You have the Sokoto Caliphate that brought every person from Adamawa to Sokoto and said it is one kingdom. They now
said it was a Muslim North.
“The Colonialists came, put that together and said it is now called the Northern Nigeria. Do you know what happened? Our grand fathers were able to transform to being Northerners. We have not been able to transform to being Nigerians. The fault is ours.
Tell me, how many governors has South West produced after Awolowo that are role models of leadership? How many governors has the East produced like Nnamdi Azikiwe that can be role models of leadership? How Many governors in the Niger Delta are role models of leadership? Tell me. There is no evidence statistically that any part of this country has produced good leaders.
You talk about Babangida and the economy. Who were the people in charge of the economy during Babangida era? Olu Falae, Kalu Idika Kalu. What state are they from in the North?
“We started the banking reform; the first thing I heard was that in Urobo land, that there will be a curse of the ancestors. I said they (ancestors) would not answer. They said why? I said how many factories did Ibru build in Urobo land? So, why will the ancestors of the Urobo people support her?
“We talk ethnicity when it pleases us. It is hypocrisy. You said elections were rigged in 1959, Obasanjo and Maurice Iwu rigged election in 2007. Was it a Southern thing? It was not. “The problem is: everywhere in this country, there is one Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and Itshekiri man whose concern is how to get his hands on the pile and how much he can steal.
Whether it is in the military or in the civilian government, they sit down, they eat together. In fact, the constitution says there must be a minister from every state.
“So, anybody that is still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba or Hausa or Fulani, he does not love Nigeria . The problem with Nigeria is that a group of people from each and every ethnic tribe is very selfish. The poverty that is found in Maiduguri is even worse than any poverty that you find in any part of the South.
The British came for 60 years and Sir Ajayi talked about few numbers of graduates in the North (two at independence) . What he did not say was that there was a documented policy of the British when they came that the Northerner should not be educated. It was documented. It was British colonial policy. I have the document. I have published articles on it. That if you educate the Northerner you will produce progressive Muslim intellectuals of the type we have in Egypt and India. So, do not educate them. It was documented. And you say they love us (North).
“I have spent the better part of my life to fight and Dr. (Reuben) Abati knows me. Yes, my grandfather was an Emir. Why was I in the pro-democracy movement fighting for June 12? Is (Moshood) Abiola from Kano ? Why am I a founding director of the Kudirat Initiative for Nigerian Development (KIND)?

“There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo people, good Fulani people, good Nigerians and there are bad people everywhere. That is the truth. “Stop talking about dividing Nigeria because we are not the most populous country
in the world. We have all the resources that make it easy to make one united great Nigeria . It is better if we are united than to divide it.
“Every time you talk about division, when you restructure, do you know what will happen? In Delta Area, the people in Warri will say Agbor, you don’t have oil. When was the Niger Delta constructed as a political entity? Ten years ago, the Itshekiris were fighting the Urobos. Isn’t that what was happening? Now they have become Niger Delta because they have found oil. After, it will be, if you do not have oil in your village then you cannot share our resources.
“There is no country in the world where resources are found in everybody’s hamlet. But people have leaders and they said if you have this geography and if we are one state, then we have a responsibility for making sure that the people who belong to this country have a good nature.
“So, why don’t you talk about; we don’t have infrastructure, we don’t have education, we don’t have health. We are still talking about Fulani. Is it the Fulani cattle rearer or is anybody saying there is no poverty among the Fulani?

Enough is Enough!

Fellow Citizens and compatriots, Three days ago, I addressed you to express our pride on the successful conduct of the presidential election. I said then that we are all winners and that there are no losers.

I believe that I spoke the minds of most Nigerians, as well as men and women of goodwill all around the world.

We all came together for a historic achievement and to celebrate the progressive march of our democracy. I thank all of you who responded to my appeal on that occasion to reach out to your neighbours with love; to keep our nation united and strong.

This administration had taken practical steps to ensure the attainment of its goal of delivering free, fair and credible elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was reconstituted with credible and non-partisan people to the acclaim of Nigerians and the international community. Despite a few challenges, the new INEC has provided an atmosphere for the conduct of credible elections right from the review of the voter register to the presidential elections which took place last Saturday.
Sadly, some misguided elements do not share in the spirit of our democratic achievements. They formed into groups of miscreants and struck with deadly and destructive force in some parts of the country.

They killed and maimed innocent citizens. They set ablaze business premises, private homes and even places of worship. In some cases, they showed utter disrespect to all forms of authority, including our most revered traditional institutions. They systematically targeted population groups. They singled out and harassed nationalistic politicians. They intimidated travellers.

The mobs also targeted government offices and facilities, especially those of INEC. They waylaid vulnerable Youth Corps members, even though we all know that these young and innocent Nigerians are guests within our communities and are agents of public good and national unity.

We are shocked by these horrific acts which strike at the heart of our nation. These disturbances are more than mere political protests. Clearly, they aim to frustrate the remaining elections. This is not acceptable.

If anything at all, these acts of mayhem are sad reminders of the events which plunged our country into 30 months of an unfortunate civil war. As a nation, we are yet to come to terms with the level of human suffering, destruction and displacement, including that of our children to far-away countries, occasioned by those dark days.

In recent years, we have also witnessed other acts of intolerance, violence and destruction of human life perpetrated by unpatriotic elements for no justifiable reason. Indeed, the nation still bears some of the scars of other similar events like the aftermath of the June 12 1993 elections that brought our polity to the brink. It is inconceivable therefore, that there are some in our midst who seek to re-enact a stalemate in the political process.
My fellow countrymen and women, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Democracy is about the rule of law. It is to its credit, that in recent years our judiciary has demonstrated great courage, fortitude and independence in the discharge of its duties.

There are, therefore, no grievances that our laws and courts cannot address.

I have been in touch with all state governors and relevant security agencies. I have consulted with traditional, religious and political leaders who are also very disturbed by this trend of events.

As president, it is my solemn duty to defend the constitution of this country. That includes the obligation to protect the lives and properties of every Nigerian wherever they choose to live.

I will defend the right of all citizens to freely express their democratic choice anywhere in this country; to enjoy every freedom and opportunity that this country can offer without let or hindrance.

I assure all Nigerians that I will do so with all powers at my disposal as President, Commander-in-Chief.

I have ordered the deployment of security personnel to troubled parts of the country. I have also directed the reinforcement of security in all parts of the country.

I have authorised our security services to use all lawful means, including justifiable force to bring an immediate end to all acts of violence against our fellow citizens.

In view of the condemnable attacks on our gallant Youth Corps members, I have directed all state governors to take personal responsibility for their security and safety in the states where they serve.
I have directed that the perpetrators of these dastardly acts of violence and all those who seek to continue to breach the peace and stability of this nation must be fished out and made to face the full weight of the law.

In this regard, a Judicial Commission of Inquiry will be constituted to look into the immediate and remote causes of this recent tide of unrest.

I urge all Nigerians to remain law abiding. I appeal to parents to take full charge of their wards.

We must not allow anybody to use innocent youth as cannon fodder for the ambitions of a few. Let us preserve the sanctity of the lives and future of all of our children.

On behalf of all Nigerians, I express heart-felt condolences to the victims of this violence. I lament the loss of lives; destruction of means of livelihood; the burning of homes and places of worship.

I appeal to all members of the political class, leaders of thought and traditional rulers to continue to put our national interest first at this critical time.

Particularly, I call on our religious leaders not to use the sacredness of our places of worship to promote messages that could lead to hate, disharmony and disaffection. Rather, we must all at this time join hands and support INEC in ensuring a successful conclusion of the commendable work which they started.

I appeal to all communities around the country to show restraint in the face of provocation. I urge all Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for peace and tranquillity in our country.

I assure you all that calm is being restored in troubled parts of the country and that the elections scheduled for next Tuesday will go on as planned.

All Nigerians should therefore go about their businesses without fear and exercise their franchise on April 26 to vote for candidates of their choice in the next round of elections.

To those who persist in sowing the seeds of discord, I say, you may hurt and bring grief to some innocent families momentarily, but you will never succeed in stopping our transformational journey: a journey that will lead this country, by the grace of God, to emerge stronger, more prosperous and more united.
Dear brothers and sisters, let us continue to build a nation in which we all live in peace.

A nation where the bonds of our common aspirations and goals will spur and re-energise our resolve towards greatness. A nation where our children from North and South, East and West will grow with hope and live together as brothers, sisters and friends. Let us always remember that we are all part of a shared destiny.

A Texas man sent his ex-girlfriend a cell phone photo showing their infant and toddler sons with a "goodbye" message and then a graphic photo that appeared to show the baby dead — a day before authorities found the youngsters' bodies, two of the mother's friends said Thursday. Gabriel Armandariz, 28, was jailed on $1.5 million bond on a capital murder charge in Young County, where the two small bodies were found early Thursday after an all-night search triggered by a family member concerned for their welfare, Graham police said.
Authorities declined to say how the children died in Graham, a rural community about 75 miles northwest of Fort Worth, or release other details about the case.
Two people who work with the children's mother in the West Texas town of Sudan said they saw the cell phone pictures sent from Armandariz, her ex-boyfriend, on Wednesday before she went to police in a nearby town.
Douglas Ames, the woman's boss at the Chuck Wagon restaurant, said she was upset Wednesday afternoon, saying Armandariz had been calling her and saying strange things. One photo sent to the woman's phone Wednesday and obtained by The Associated Press, shows 2-year-old Gatlin and 8-month-old Luke sitting on a bed. Another shows Armandariz lying on a bed with a child on either side of him. Under that photo is the message, "We love u goodbye."
Even after seeing a third disturbing picture that appeared to show Luke dead, the children's mother, Ames and the other co-worker initially were not sure if it was real but went to police anyway, Ames said.
The other co-worker, Cynthia Bradley, said the children's mother was crying and in shock.

The unhinged mother who drove her minivan off a Newburgh dock and into the Hudson River told her four children that she wasn't leaving this world alone.
"If I'm going to die, you're going to die with me," Lashanda Armstrong told the children before the vehicle sank to the bottom of the river just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the only surviving child told authorities.
Armstrong's 10-year-old son, Lashaun, escaped the doomed family minivan - opening a power window and swimming to safety in the two minutes it took for the vehicle to sink.
But as he wriggled out of the window, his mother snatched his pants leg. "I made a mistake," she said before finally releasing the boy, the child told authorities.
After swimming to shore, the dripping-wet Lashaun made it to the road, where he was picked up by Meave Ryan, a good Samaritan who took the boy to a nearby firehouse.
"He was waving his hands, screaming 'Help me!'" said Ryan, 31. "He said, 'My mommy just drove the car into the water.'"
Shivering and barely able to speak, little Lashaun told firefighters how his mother had launched the van into the river with his siblings inside and how, just moments before, she dialed her dad for help, the kids screaming in the background.
"I'm sorry, I'm going to do something crazy," Armstrong said, according to the boy's story.
That prompted a 911 call that brought police to her Newburgh home, but it was too late.
Police wouldn't confirm details of the domestic dispute that preceded the murder-suicide inside the tan van, but neighbors said Armstrong and longtime boyfriend Jean Pierre were frequent fighters in their second-floor home.
Armstrong, who battled with Pierre over his womanizing, had twice asked to get the apartment locks changed in a six-month period - most recently in March, the building landlord said.
Pierre - nicknamed "Prime" - was the father of the three dead children. He began dating Armstrong, 25, when they were in high school.
"They went to the prom together, put it that way," said the dead woman's aunt, Angie Gilliam, who made the futile 911 call.
It was unclear if Pierre, 26, was at the apartment before Armstrong's inexplicable death ride - a six-block drive from her home to a concrete boat ramp and into the river.
A 22-year-old neighbor said she and Pierre had a three-month affair while Armstrong was pregnant last year with her last child, 11-month-old Lainaina.
The baby, along with her brothers Landon, 5, and Lance, 2, died with their mother.
Armstrong knew about Pierre's roaming eye, and it became an ongoing argument.
"There was nonstop arguing late at night - normal kind of stuff," said the neighbor, who later befriended Armstrong. "Why are you back so late? Who were you with? But I can't picture her putting the kids in the car and doing that."
Cops released Pierre on Wednesday night after a day of questioning. He is not expected to be charged.

An Oklahoma woman has been charged with felony child neglect after her 10-day-old baby was killed in a washing machine.

Lyndsey Fiddler, 26, was high on drugs when she put her newborn daughter, Maggie May Trammel, in the washing machine along with the dirty laundry and started a washing cycle, local station NewsOn6 reported.

The baby’s great aunt, Rhonda Coshatt, was also in the house at the time and realized something was wrong when she saw Fiddler passed out and unresponsive on a chair with the child nowhere to be found.
After hearing a clunking noise coming from the washer, she opened the lid and found the dead infant.

Fiddler, who is being held on $100,000 bail, tested positive for a variety of drugs, including methamphetamine, amphetamines, benzodiazepine and opiates.
Under questioning, she told police that she wrapped her daughter in a blanket and gave her a pacifier, but was unable to remember how the baby ended up in the washing machine and went through an entire washing cycle.
Fiddler’s dangerous drug habit spurred her relatives toward an unsuccessful attempt to have her parental rights stripped when she was four months pregnant.
This is not Fiddler's first run-in with the law, the Tulsa World reported. She had previously been convicted of larceny and assault and battery, and has received numerous traffic violations for speeding, driving without a license and failing to put her other kids in child safety seats.
Although Fiddler currently only faces child neglect charges, prosecutors are looking to build the strongest possible case against her.

"We anticipate there may be additional charges based on the information the state anticipates it will be receiving," Bartesville District Attorney Rick Esser told the Tulsa World.

Texas twins were charged with murder on Tuesday after they let their mother die on the floor after a fall and lived with her corpse for three months, authorities say.Edwin Berndt and Edward Berndt, both 48, were arrested Monday after cops found the body of their mother, Sybil Berndt, still on the floor of their Houston home, covered in bugs.
Officers said they visited the home after a neighbor reported the woman hadn't been seen for months.
Edwin Berndt initially refused to let anyone in, but relented when cops demanded to talk to his mom.
Cops said the home was in "deplorable condition and smelled terribly." The woman's was found facedown, without underwear and a grubby nightgown pulled up under her arms.
The brothers told cops their mother had died after a fall and they decided to leave her there because they couldn't afford a burial or ambulance.
They claimed they were watching the NCAA college football championship game Jan. 10 when their mother "came in ranting and raving" and slipped fell on the floor.
She was conscious and talking for the three days before she died Jan. 13, the day after her 89th birthday, her sons told cops.
They admitted they didn't give her food or water before she died, police said.
During a search of the home, investigators found bank statements for accounts that totaled about $700,000.

Reporter Jenny Kleeman and director James Jones travel from Italy to Africa to reveal how human traffickers are using black magic to coerce and trap Nigerian women into a life of prostitution in Europe.

Women are made to swear an oath of loyalty to their traffickers in an elaborate ritual that compels them to pay back extortionate sums of money. If they ever break free or report their traffickers, they believe they will be cursed.

The team begins their journey in northern Italy. As many as 20,000 Nigerian women work as prostitutes on Italy's streets.

They meet Rita, who tells Kleeman she sleeps with up to 10 men a day, seven days a week, for 20 euros a time. After five years of prostitution, Rita still hasn't paid off the 50,000 Euro debt she owes her traffickers. She is also forced to pay them 300 Euros a month in 'rent' to solicit from her particular patch of pavement beside a highway.

Rita says customers had beaten her badly in the past but she has no choice but to continue working on the streets. She tells Kleeman she has sworn to repay the debt to her traffickers in a traditional West African religious ritual which she calls 'juju'. She fears she and her family will die or go mad if she incurs the wrath of the spirits by breaking her oath.

The Unreported World team flies to the southern Nigerian state of Edo, where 80 per cent of Nigerians trafficked into Europe begin their journey. In the village of Ewhoini they learn that almost every family has a relative abroad.

Kleeman and Jones meet Elonel, who tells them that he earns money by helping traffic women from here to work for his sister in Italy. Elonel introduces Kleeman to a woman who's about to make the trip.

Vivian, 23, used to make her living selling tomatoes at the local market. She tells Kleeman that there are no jobs in her town so she has decided to go to Europe to earn money to take care of her brothers and sisters at home. She knows she will have to pay her traffickers back, and that she might have to work as a prostitute to do it at first, but has no idea how much they will ask for.

Vivian says that Elonel is her boyfriend. He's made all the travel plans for her and has booked her in to see a juju priest. She believes the juju ceremony will bring her luck, but she will also swear an oath of loyalty to Elonel and his sister during the ritual that will ensure they get paid whatever sum they ask of her.

Elonel tells Kleeman that he doesn't feel at all guilty about sending his girlfriend to a life of prostitution as he simply needs the money.

The team are given rare access to film the juju ceremony. The juju priest, 'Dr' Stanley, marks Vivian's body and makes her kneel at his shrine as she swears her oath. He claims he has the power to give women cancer if they break the promises they make before him.

For those like Vivian who believe in juju, there's no way of hiding from the spirits. Dr Stanley tells Kleeman that countless others have sworn oaths of loyalty to different traffickers at his shrine.

Getting women to give evidence against their traffickers is a serious challenge because of the conspiracy of silence created by the ritual. The team joins the government's anti-trafficking agency as they conduct a special juju ceremony to free a repatriated victim from her oath.

Before Vivian leaves Nigeria, Kleeman has a final opportunity to warn her about the reality of life on Italy's streets. When Kleeman tells her she'll be working for years as a prostitute to pay off an extortionate sum, Vivian doesn't believe her.

Her determination to improve her life has made it easy for traffickers to exploit her, and the juju oath has made it impossible for her to change her mind.

Man kills 11 children and then kills himself in Brazil because he contracted AIDS?

A gunman opened fire Thursday in a public elementary school in Rio de Janeiro, killing at least 11 children before taking his own life, officials said.
The victims were 10 girls between the ages of 12 and 14 and one boy, the O Globo news website in Rio de Janeiro reported.
The gunman, identified as Wellington Menezes de Oliveira, was a 23-year-old former student at the school.
O Globo reported the gunman was shot by police in the leg and then killed himself with a shot to the head.

Officials told O Globo that 18 children were hospitalized after Thursday's shooting.
The man left a letter explaining his actions, O Globo said, including a reference that he had contracted the AIDS virus. Other details were not immediately available.
Terrified parents rushed to the school and television images showed them crying and screaming for information about their children.
The number of victims changed during the course of the day but police now say 11 children died.

Ten Nigerians including eight others from Chad and Egypt were reportedly executed by firing-squad by the Libyan government last Sunday. Already, Amnesty International (AI) has condemned the reported execution. Daily Champion gathered that Cerene, a newspaper closely affiliated with Saif al-Islam al-Gaddafi, son of Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi, reported that the 18 were executed after being convicted of premeditated murder.

But AI in a statement said: "Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all cases, as the ultimate form of cruel and inhuman punishment and a violation of the right to life," said Malcolm Smart, Amnesty International's director for the Middle East and North Africa.

In the case of Libya, we fear that death sentences are handed down after proceedings which fail to satisfy international standards for fair trial."
Fourteen people were executed in the capital, Tripoli, Cerene reported, while the four other executions were carried out in Benghazi, Libya's second largest city. Though their identities have not been made public by the Libyan authorities, Daily Champion, however gathered that majority of the victims were Nigerians.

A Nigerian who lives in Tripoli and who spoke on the conditions of anonymity said: "At least 10 Nigerians are among those that were executed. There are over 50 Nigerians awaiting execution. Some of them were convicted on flimsy reasons," our source said:

More than 200 people are currently on death row in Libya, the Cerene report said. They include a large number of foreign nationals against whom the death penalty appears to be used disproportionately. They are often not provided with interpretation or translation assistance during legal proceedings, which are conducted in Arabic, or access to their own government's consular representatives.

Foreign nationals are also at a disadvantage compared to Libyans in seeking commutation of their death sentences because they generally have limited financial means and lack a family network in Libya that can assist them by negotiating with the family of their alleged victim.

In cases of qisas (retribution for murder) and diya (financial compensation or blood money), the murder victim's next-of-kin may agree to pardon the person convicted and under sentence of death in return for financial compensation.

To date, the Libyan government has resisted moves towards the abolition of the death penalty. In December 2007 and 2008, Libya was among the minority of states that voted against successful United Nations General Assembly resolutions calling for a worldwide moratorium on executions.

"The Libyan authorities must declare a moratorium on executions and join the international trend towards abolition of the death penalty," said Malcolm Smart of the Amnesty International.
"They should also commute the sentences of all those on death row. Last Sunday's dreadful events should not be repeated. The authorities should reveal the identities of the 18 people who were executed and vow to desist from further executions."

Amnesty International urged Libya to ensure that the most rigorous internationally-recognized standards for fair trial are respected, particularly in death penalty cases.
"It is unconscionable that people may still be sentenced to death and executed in Libya after trials which fail to meet the highest international standards," Smart said.

The question about the "rightness" of vigilante revenge definitely comes up after a father, an ex-South Africa rugby star, went on what looks to be a revenge killing spree, using an axe to murder three men he believes gang raped his daughter and gave her HIV. One of the victims' heads was found a mile away from his body. One of the two other men, also killed by axe, was nearly decapitated as well.
For anyone who has a daughter or a child, it seems a rightly served form of justice on men who would commit a heinous and violent crime against a young girl, especially leaving her to fight a deadly virus for life; however, this string of violence at the hands of a rage-filled father also reminds us to consider that taking the law into our own hands might not always work out how it should.
First of all, there is the matter of the gang rape, which is still alleged. It doesn't sound like anyone was picked up, arrested, or charged for the crime. Not suggesting the rape didn't happen. Not at all. If it was my kid who was raped, I'd have no problem taking her word for it. I could see many, many people immediately going after the rapists named by their own daughter.
But what if this father killed the wrong guys? What if, in an impassioned and murderous rampage, he hacked up someone he thought to be one of the rapists, and what if he was wrong? Then the story isn't so heroic anymore, is it? That's the purpose the courts and DNA tests and finger pointing in a courtroom serve. Everything else aside, you want to get the right guys. However, this is what we don't know when a person goes after people without the law behind him. The father is due in court tomorrow, where he will face three charges of murder and one of attempted murder for a fourth alleged victim who escaped. He is accused of stalking his victims over several days before hacking them to death with an axe.

12 year old gives birth on a School trip

A 12-year-old Dutch girl gave birth to a baby she didn't see coming on a school trip on March 22.

Police are now seeking the father of the child, according to the AP. Teachers realized that the stomach pains she had been complaining were in fact labor pains.

The girl, from Grogingen, over 100 miles from Amsterdam gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl in a nearby building after an ambulance arrived.

So far, she's refused to name the father, but police have their suspicions.

Family members said that the schoolgirl's father previously sexually abused another older daughter and served two years in jail for the sex crime, according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

The girl was living with her father and brother after he won custody following a divorce from their mother, who was originally from Suriname, a former Dutch colony in South America.

The offense is punishable because the girl was 11 when she was abused. Dutch law states that any sex with a minor under 12 is a criminal offense automatically

A central Pennsylvania man faces robbery and assault charges after he allegedly stuffed a bag of frozen shrimp down his pants and attacked a grocery store security guard.
Northern York County Regional Police say 37-year-old Brian McDaniel was spotted hiding the shrimp in his pants and struck a security guard who tried to stop him inside a grocery store Thursday in Dover Township. The guard sustained minor injuries.
McDaniel was caught in the store's parking lot by the security guard and a bystander. He is being held on $10,000 bail.
It was not immediately clear if McDaniel had an attorney.

17 year old girl pistol whips Mom

An honors student is accused of using a stolen gun to pistol-whip, then threaten her mother in order to get a sports car, according to Lee County Sheriff's Office reports. On Thursday, March 24, 17-year-old Rachel Hachero called her mother from a car dealership and asked her to co-sign a loan for a vehicle. When Rachel's mother Linda Hachero refused, Rachel threatened to kill her, reports said.
Around 7 p.m. Rachel arrived to their Mossy Glen Drive home and confronted her mother with a 9 mm. She struck her mom in the head with the gun, reports said.
Then, Rachel pointed the gun at Linda's head and told her they were going to the car dealership and demanded her mother co-sign for the car, reports said.
Rachel and her mother went to Sutherlin Nissan, where her mother signed for the car. Rachel left in the 2004 black Nissan 350Z, reports said.

After contacting deputies and reporting the incident the following day, Linda told deputies she didn't want to prosecute her daughter because she is an honors student who has been accepted to several Ivy League colleges on scholarships, reports said.
Despite signing a waiver of prosecution, the deputy said there was probable cause to arrest Rachel for aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, one count of battery touch or strike and possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18.
A check of the gun's serial number revealed it was stolen from a Lee County Port Authority Law Enforcement officer in early July 2010.

Soccer Fans bring Dead Friend to a Match

Soccer fanatics brought the body of a murdered teenager into a stadium in Colombia's Norte de Santander department.
The body of 17-year-old Christopher Jacome was brought in a coffin to the General Santander Stadium in Cucuta, the capital of Norte de Santander, during the Sunday match between Cucuta Deportivo and Envigado.
The boy, a loyal fan of Cucuta who belonged to the fan group "Barra del Indio" -- a group known in Colombia for their aggressive antics at soccer matches -- was shot several times Saturday while playing soccer in a local park.
After his wake, friends from "Barra del Indio" took the cadaver from the funeral home and paraded it around and then into the stadium in an attempt to pay homage to the slain soccer fan.
The medic for the soccer club, Julio Rivera, told the press, "They don't let in the "barras" (fanatics) but yes, a cadaver. This is the only part of the world where this has happened."
Colonel Alvaro Pico, a local police said that the boy's death had nothing to do with his love for the soccer team rather it was a consequence of criminal actions in the area where he lived.
The event has generated controversy in Cucuta and stadium officials will hold a meeting to find out who permitted the entry of the cadaver and what punishment will be given.
Colonel Pico said they have identified some individuals who took the body from the funeral home.

Bikini Clad woman in Burger King Brawl

A bikini-clad woman wanted a Whopper -- and she gave a walloping.

Police in Panama City Beach, Fla., say Kimesa Smith hopped on the counter of a Burger King on March 19 and attacked employees because she felt her order of a Whopper Jr. and fries was taking too long.

"We tore the Burger King up," the 31-year-old reportedly told investigators. "I don't play no games."

After waiting 20 minutes before receiving her meal, the self-described "first-time spring breaker" allegedly hurled her food at employees, jumped on the counter, pulled a manager's hair and struck workers with a charity jar filled with coins, The Smoking Gun reports.

A YouTube video of the incident shows other Burger King patrons -- some of them also in bikinis -- tossing napkins and a chair around the fast food joint.

When officers attempted to restrain the suspect, Smith allegedly said, "Take your damn hands off me, you can't touch me."

According to the website, Smith felt she and her friends were being mistreated from the moment they entered the eatery.

"When I walked in, they had no smiles on their faces. We weren't treated fairly," she reportedly said. "If I knew what was gonna happen, I would've gone to Taco Bell."

Smith was hit with a misdemeanor battery charge. No employees were injured in the fight, and no other diners were charged.

11 year old Gang Raped

Michael Sykes, 19, of Moreno Valley, was arrested at a home in that city about 70 miles east of Los Angeles, Riverside County sheriff's spokeswoman Courtney Donowho said. She had no other details. Sykes was the eighth person arrested in the gang rape at Victoriano Park in Moreno Valley. He and the six boys accused of raping the girl are believed to belong to a local street gang, authorities have said.

The other boys were arrested shortly after the attack, along with a girl who is suspected of luring the victim into the bathroom so she could be raped, investigators said. Their names were not released because they are all minors, although the boys were over the age of 14, authorities said. The 11-year-old was approached by the older girl, whom she knew, at a shopping center on the afternoon of March 10 and was led to the park where the male gang members were waiting to assault her, Lt. Chad Bianco told the Riverside Press-Enterprise. "It appears what happened is they were looking for a victim," he said. "It shocks you to your core," county Sheriff Stan Sniff told the newspaper Sunday. "It never ceases to amaze me how vicious these things can be." Sheriff's Investigator Matt Diaz says no other details were being released.

The attack, which was on the south side of the city near Moreno Valley College, wasn't made public until Sunday. "As a father - even as a police officer - there are crimes that shock us. This is one of them," said Capt. John Anderson, chief of the Moreno Valley station. The attack was in an area where gangs and crime aren't a problem, Anderson said. It was the second time in a month that a little girl was sexually attacked in a park in Riverside County. In February, three 13-year-old boys were arrested after a middle school student told officers a boy sexually assaulted her while the two others held her down at Banning's Roosevelt Williams Park. The boys and the victim attended Nicolette Middle School, and investigators said it wasn't a gang-related attack.

Casual Sex Site For College Students

A few weeks ago, a University of Chicago undergraduate student launched UChicagoHookups.com, which allowed classmates to plan a casual sexual encounter online. After attracting national and international attention, the site is now expanding.
According to the site, which is now called EduHookups.com, the media attention to UChicagoHookups piqued the interest of other colleges. So, the URL was changed and the site now welcomes Northwestern University and Columbia College Chicago students to the "no strings attached" social network. The site will also be open to Brown University students starting April 4.

The site is similar to the "Casual Encounters" section of Craigslist, but users must have an "edu" email address to register. The updated site allows users to post and browse listings for casual encounters, serious relationships and platonic friendships.

The site's creator said they saw a boost in traffic following news coverage of UChicagoHookups last week. More than 300 people have registered, and more than 1,300 private messages have been sent since.

Tell us a little about yourself
My name is Adiya and I'd like to think I'm a 'nice gal'. Yeah, i have my moments, but I'm generally optimistic and i love to have laughs, especially at myself. I love stories (read movies and novels hehe), art (especially with African themes), illustrations, dance (don't ask me to though cause I'd only shuffle), group discussions, classy fashion styles, and the color black. I try to remind myself that I only have this one life to live, so I should be happy and do what I want to do.

Why Did You Start Blogging?:
For a while, I had been looking for a creative outlet. I thought of tailoring, but I can hardly sew on a button. Art? the only thing I can draw is a cube. Photography? Point and shoot is the extent of my genius and Photoshop makes my eyes cross. I've got definite plans to learn these though cause I believe once you've got the heart to like something and want to do it, you definitely can. Unfortunately, right now I'm too busy with my day job. (I'm an environmental and sustainable development consultant- see why I'm looking for a creative outlet? how boring does this sound? lol). So, since I don't mind writing one little bit, I decided to blog. And I've been loving it.

What is The Corner Shop about?
The Corner Shop is a blog that is aimed at showcasing creative Nigerian businesses and entrepreneurs. It is about showing the world that Nigerians are imaginative, artistic, and committed to making a living through creative self expression. The blog also provides an avenue for just a little bit more online presence for each of these entrepreneurs.

How Did You Come Up With the Idea for The Corner Shop:
I've got future plans to run a business support company. One of the four objectives of the company would be to showcase Nigerian businesses, notably in the form of a business listing. But the plans are big, and since there's a lot of yapping about starting small (good advice btw), I decided to give myself some practice right now and start a blog about businesses.

But as I thought about it, I realized I didn't really want to write about any business (really, how boring would it be to write about, say, a pharmacy? Bleh). I wanted to write about something I'm passionate about. And I'm passionate about all things artistic- from paintings, fashion, craft, magazines, to writing and surprising innovations. I can't exactly do these things, but I believe I've got a good eye for them. Besides, I couldn't identify a site that has a general listing of creative Nigerian businesses (none that I've found anyway). And eureka! The Corner Shop was born. Now I get to be awed and inspired by people with such imagination, talent, and passion. And to think I might never have heard about any of them if I hadn't started The Corner Shop. That would have sucked!

Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79

Taylor had been hospitalized for the last two months at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. She first disclosed her diagnosis of congestive heart failure in November 2004. The condition was compounded by other ailments including spinal fractures and the effects of scoliosis.

Jessica Tata Returned to US after fleeing to Nigeria

Tata faces manslaughter, reckless injury to a child and child-abandonment charges because she opted to go shopping at a local Target and left the toddlers, ranging from ages 15 months to 3 years, who were in her care unattended.
The blaze started due to an unattended pot of oil that was left on the stove. Tata told authorities that she was in the bathroom when the blaze broke out, but a Target receipt and surveillance camera shows Tata shopping during the time of the fire.
Tata fled the United States hours after a warrant was issued for her arrest and bond was set for $550,000.
After leaving the United States, the U.S. Marshals Service placed Tata on the list of its 15 most-wanted fugitives and offered a reward of up to $25,000. The 22-year-old woman turned herself into Interpol agents in the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt on Saturday, where she was staying with relatives.
"You cannot thumb your nose at the justice system, whether it be domestically or abroad," Elizabeth Saenz, the U.S. marshal for the Southern District of Texas, said in a statement Monday. "Justice will be served. Jessica Tata has learned this, thanks to the global efforts of the many and unknown."
If convicted, Tata could face up to 20 years in prison.

Personally, i think the reason she turned herself in was because she couldn't cut it in Nigeria. Living in Naija is not for the faint of heart or the uninitiated. From reports that i read, she's not an immigrant from Nigeria, but rather has family in Nigeria. She probably is a first or second generation American. Who knows?

Tighter rules for UK student visas

The rules for student visas into the UK are to be much tougher - after fears that this route of entry is being used dishonestly.

Home Secretary Theresa May said student visas were being abused and "too many were here to work and not to study".
She announced plans to cut the number of student visas by up to 80,000 - about a quarter of the current numbers.
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper warned that rules must not damage an industry worth £5bn a year.
Mrs May told the House of Commons that the misuse of student visas had become a "symbol of a broken and abused immigration system".
Language rules Tightening rules to stop false applications would be "in the best interests of legitimate students," she said.
The tougher rules will include a requirement for students to be able to speak English.
Mrs May said she wanted to end the situation where would-be students arrived at UK airports unable to even describe the courses they were about to begin.
There will also be tighter regulations on allowing the dependents of students to join them in the UK - and less flexibility in the number of years that overseas students can spend in the UK after courses are finished.
In response to concerns that students visas are being misused by economic migrants, there will be limits on the hours of paid work which overseas students will be allowed to carry out.
Universities had previously expressed fears about the loss of overseas students from tighter visa rules - but Universities UK said that their concerns had been taken into account.

Many of the restrictions are targeted at students in private colleges - rather than universities.
Language colleges and providers of pre-university entry courses had warned of the damage to their businesses if visa rules make it difficult for legitimate students to enter the UK.

"We will need to look closely at the finer detail, but they have listened to our concerns about pathway courses into universities and the need for the language requirement to be set at a realistic level that will not deter good students," said Edward Acton, vice-chancellor of the University of East Anglia.
Bogus colleges The Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper warned that the plan was being driven by the need to meet political promises about cutting immigration numbers, rather than to improve the visa system.
She said that Mrs May should act "in the interests of a sensible, controlled migration policy, rather than taking risks with an important export industry for the sake of promises she knows she can't keep".
The proposals from the government are the latest attempt to find a way to stop false applications without deterring legitimate students, who have become an important source of funding for UK universities and colleges.

Going undercover to expose fraud in UK student visa system

There has been a long-standing problem with bogus colleges, set up to get around visa rules under the pretence of offering courses.
Despite repeated efforts to tighten the rules, there are still concerns about the misuse of the visa system by self-regulated, private colleges.
There have been 64 colleges which have had their right to sponsor overseas students withdrawn, since the current regulations were introduced.
Last week the Home Affairs Select Committee recommended that the government should abandon plans to raise the level of English required to gain a visa.
UCU general secretary, Sally Hunt, said: "The government's student visa plans are short-sighted and risk sending out the worrying message that the UK is closed for business."

Python swallows baby in Edo State - Graphic picture

A python, yesterday, swallowed a baby at Okada, Edo State.
Witnesses say the snake, measuring about 10ft long, swallowed a six-month-old baby that was left abandoned outside a house.
The baby was reportedly left on a mat outside, while the mother went inside. A witness, who claimed to have arrived the scene as the snake was in the process of swallowing the baby, raised an alarm. People rushed to the scene and killed the snake, but were too late to save the baby.

My question is, if someone saw the snake in the process of swallowing the baby, why didn't they kill it before it completed the job and at least try to save the child. Where was the child's mother? There's no way a snake would be swallowing a baby and the baby would not be screaming its lungs out at least at first. I'm so freaked out by the story and the picture is not helping matters.

Anyways today I thought to myself this issue about marriage is a "big thing oh". I hear different stories everyday and I am baffled.. Sometimes I don't believe it...They say that trivial things cost the downfall of a marriage how true can this be?

A little girl told her mummy not to come pick her from school with her car. When asked why? She said: " mummy your car doesn't have AC ( air-conditioning) and daddy's car has, so I want to go home with daddy's car....

hmmmm I got thinking: "as couples should one car be designated to mummy and daddy. Or should all the cars be used by either daddy or mummy when they feel like?

Must the Jeep ( as Nigerians will call it) be used only by the daddies and the small Datsun be used by the mummies?

Should the daddies enjoy the comfort of an air-conditioned car in this hot weather while the mummy sweats it out with the unconditioned car (LOL).

My question to this: "what do you think?

Me I believe that everything should be the "couples". No one has ownership of anything be it cars, household utensils etc..

But sometimes we don't always get what we want, do we?

Hospital authorities say they have treated a 3-year-old child for alcoholism. The Heart of England NHS Trust that runs three hospitals in central England confirmed Tuesday that a child had been treated by medical staff after being given alcohol regularly. The trust revealed the data in response to a request made under the Freedom of Information Act by a newspaper, which requested data on underage drinking.
The case highlights a new low in Britain's struggle to control a binge-drinking culture which has seen alcohol-related deaths double in the past two decades.

Documents released in the case of a 12-year-old Colorado boy accused of fatally shooting his parents and wounding two siblings show prosecutors filed nine charges against him, including two counts of first-degree murder.
The documents released Monday by a judge at the request of prosecutors also offer new details from investigators alleging the boy tried to hurt his 5-year-old sister with a knife and stabbed and shot his 9-year-old brother. The Denver Post and KUSA-TV report that the documents were released after a closed court hearing.
Police said they found the bodies of Charles and Marilyn Long on March 1 after somebody called the police emegency dispatcher to report a shooting at their Burlington home, about 140 miles (225 kilometers) east of Denver and near the Kansas state line.
Prosecutors have not decided whether to charge the boy as an adult

The boy's siblings were expected to recover from their injuries.
The Longs, both in their early 50s, had seven children; four are grown and no longer live at home.
Marilyn Long homeschooled the children and ran the children's ministry at the local Evangelical Free Church. Her husband served as a church elder and was a snack delivery driver.

Son Nicolae was born a year later. The young mum later tried to persuade Maria to stay at school.

The website says the goods were first invented in Japan in 1993 and then became popular in Thailand, followed by the rest of Southeast Asia before eventually making their way to the Middle East.
According to the instructions, the little piece of semitransparent tissue has no side effects and is made of a natural fibrin glue, a medical elastic substance, a soluble base and carboxymethocel.
“After you put this into the vagina, it’ll dissolve and expand. Have sex in about 20 to 30 minutes, and you’ll ‘bleed’,” explains the instructions. “A better effect will be reached if you appear to be shy and in pain.”

Circumventing tradition
I first learned about this product through an anonymous text message that read, “Joan of Arc Red, no surgery, no injections, no pain, and it will re-virginize you in just a few minutes.” I logged onto the website, and an online service agent began chatting with me immediately.
Refusing to tell me how many packs they sell on a daily basis because, the agent said, it’s a business secret, he was frank about the vast market for their product. “A lot of new graduates buy them before they get married,” he wrote. “So do some prostitutes who want to get a better price from their customers.”
A few decades ago, it was commonplace for husbands to expect to see tell-tale red marks on their wedding night. But despite the fact that China is much less conservative today than it used to be, many brides are still judged the same way.

Please read the "picture". It is very important to this post. So last december, there was a post on Bella Naija titled "Honesty Junkie" and it pretty much talked about how honest you should be in your relationship. The post was all well and good but what got me was the comment posted above. I cracked up so bad, i thought it was the funniest thing i had seen in a long time. That someone would take the time to figure out a formula to calculate how many people you have slept with was freaking hilarious to me.

After i directed my friend to read the comment, she responded by saying "Oh this means i'm a virgin" Lol. OMG. How important is the number of people you have slept with anyway? To be honest, i think i will look at a guy differently if he tells me he has slept with 50 people. That right there is a man whore, there's no two ways about it. We all know that women don't even have to do much to be labeled sluts. My friend says this is the reason why she "recycles". First time i had heard of that concept. So let's say you sleep with two people in the same month, but you had slept with those people at some point in the past, maybe a few years ago, it's good because it doesn't increase your number. Na wa o! See logic.

Audrey Willoughby, 33, pleaded no contest Monday to child abuse charges after she allegedly let her 10-year-old daughter drive mommy home after a few too many beers.
The little girl rammed three vehicles and a house during the May crash course in designated driving.
Willoughby won't get more than 18 months in prison under the plea agreement.
According to police, Willoughby and a friend, Michael Ray Green, were giving the little girl driving lessons in Fort Pierce.
Green had a couple of beers and decided it might be best if the little girl drove the group home. Willoughby approved of the not-so-well-thought-out idea, handed her daughter the keys and jumped in the back seat with the girl's 8-year-old brother.
No sooner than the 10-year old pulled out into traffic did she start crashing into cars. In a panic, the preteen hit the accelerator instead of the brakes and drove the Toyota Corolla into a house.
No one was injured in the crash.

Enough of the medical talk lets get down to business...

I was chatting with my doctor brother one day and I said the best method of birth control is tubal ligation ( lay man's words tying of the woman's tubes), after the woman is sure she is through with having kids. To my surprise my brother told me No... He said that the best form of birth control is Vasectomy. Very effective method used in curbing a nation's overpopulation.

Nicely said but which Naija man will do it?

When will we get to the point where this will be made legal cos of our population growth, as I learnt has taken effect or in the process of taking effect loll, in India...

Imagine a scene where the man actually does a vasectomy. Now we know that women can talk especially when they are amongst their friends, and somehow they like to show off in their dressing as well as in their speech... The conversation goes like this...

Bisi: ha I am tired of this man oh...

Bola: which man are you talking about Bisi...(sighs) what is the problem?

Efe: Yes Bisi what is it this time. Please tell us, you know we are friends?

Bisi: my dear is my husband. He will not let me rest. EveryEtime he wants something. even when I am tired"

Blessing: "which nonsense abeg tell him to give you space oh jare. The way women are treated has to be stopped in this country. You have a right to let him know how you feel.

Efe & Bola: I agree with you Blessing.

Bisi: that is the problem, I have tried. In fact it is when when I am tired that is he charged. I don't know what to do. The worse thing is that I just found out I am pregnant again.

Bola: "again.. are you crazy you already have 4 children now, 2 boys, 2 girls what are you looking for?

Efe: So you mean Bisi in this 21st century you can't use a family planning method?

Bisi: I have used all and it just doesn't seem to work for me the problem is that my husband doesn't even like any birth control plan.

Bola: this is why I love my husband he is just a sweet heart. You know the last time we traveled

Efe: yes in january, what happened?

Bola: we didn't go for any holiday, my husband went to do a vasectomy... So I am free as a bird and it is almost 100% effective..

Controversial Topic: Is homosexuality nature or nurtue?

I'm studying sociology at the moment, and the essay of the moment is 'Crime and Deviance: what is the difference?' Homosexuality is seen as a criminal act, being gay is frowned upon so much in Nigeria, its punishment; 14 years imprisonment. But I do not live in Nigeria, so I have a different outlook on homosexuality. I know two gay guys, let's call them D and A. D is the original gay guy, we met during an argument about mascara, its odd having a conversation with a guy who knows what type of makeup fits your skintone and what kinna shoes should be worn with each outfit. While A is a completely different person, he's an army cadet, loves football and does not know the difference between 'Mac' and 'Bobby brown' but he's also gay. Both these guys are Christians and Caribbean.

The scientific explanation for homosexuality is that there is a gene which comes out warped in some way.
The bible has taught me that each and every person is created in God's image and likeness, perfect in all ways.
So why are people born each day with some sort of disease or disorder or gay?
Is it because when Eve ate that damn apple, our genes were incorporated with some other things?
Or is it because at some point in our ancestry, someone had been cursed or had simply generated the disease and we do not know?

Could it be in the case of homosexuality, that because it is an old tradition for people of the same sex to share a bed, greek and roman soldiers had sex with one another when at war, maybe the fact that it was done among these men, it might have become ingrained in them, and when they raped/slept with the slaves or their women, they passed along these desires?
(I'm not sure if that can happen btw)

But let's say for the sake of argument that there is a gene that is inserted in certain people that makes them desire people of their own sex, then why are there different types of homosexuals? Why are there feminine men and masculine women? Why when in a relationship does one need to act like a woman and one like a man? Why can't someone like A go for someone else who likes football and the army? Why does he want a guy who can cook and clean and who smells like roses?
Why does D fancy the same bad boys that I do? The same sexy, rough and manly men I do?
Why is it that when two women are in a relationship together, one doesn't wear lipstick or dresses?
Maybe my theory is right? Maybe it has been passed along by those men/women of old who experimented with one another out of loneliness or boredom or whatever.

Or maybe its because of the way they are brought up? I remember reading an interview of a famous model and I remember her saying 'I want little gay boys' I was shocked, what mother wants her children to be homosexual? Why doesn't she want grandchildren or 'normal' boys? Has the world come to the point where people pray for these things?

D told me that he realised he was gay from a really young age, he just didn't find females attractive at all. While A said he found out he was gay when he was kissed in high school by a male teacher. They both found it hard to tell their parents, the fear of alienation was ripe and being caribbean, being gay just wasn't accepted. Neither was brought up to be gay in anyway so does this cancel the nurture idea?
Is it really all nature? Or does environment have anything to do with it? Maybe because that mother wants her children to be gay, she'll bring them up to be as feminine as possible?

But then again I know a very straight guy who 'acts gay', with feminine opinions and a way of carrying himself that reminds me of a girl, but his excuse is that he grew up in a household full of women. Why didn't he turn out gay? Why does he still find women attractive? How caan he be straight, when he grew up around women? Does that mean that nurture has nothing to do with it?

I started this with a question and I still haven't answered it completely, I have too few cases to base an answer on, the bible says being gay is wrong yet there are gay priests and gay churches all praising this one God.

Am I thinking too much into it or is this question one you ask yourself sometimes?

Oral Sex Could Be Worse Than Tobacco

Whip out your Marlboros folks, oral sex — not tobacco — could now be the leading cause of throat cancer among people under 50!

Despite that exceedingly irresponsible lede (seriously, though, don’t smoke, kids), American scientists now say that oral cancer caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) has become more prevalent in the U.S. than oral cancer caused by tobacco.

Maura Gillison, a cancer researcher at Ohio State University told reporters Sunday at an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) meeting that scientists have found a 225 percent increase in the number of oral cancer cases in the U.S. during the last three decades.

“When you compare people who have an oral infection or not … the single greatest factor is the number of partners on whom the person has performed oral sex,” said Gillson, adding that studies have shown that people who have performed oral sex on more than six partners have an eight times greater risk of developing head or neck cancer than their perhaps less promiscuous peers.

In the last two decades, incidents of oral cancer in the U.S. from HPV have doubled. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that half of all sexually active Americans will get HPV throughout the course of their lifetime.

HPV has gotten attention in recent years for causing cervical cancer in women, with some states mandating and gynecologists recommending Gardasil and Cervarix to their patients as preventative vaccines. With this troubling data, however, researchers are advising boys and men to get vaccinated as well.

Sara Hiom, Cancer Research U.K.’s director of health information, told the Daily Mail that many people infected with HPV do not see symptoms or require treatment. She added that while many may hope to find the silver bullet in mass vaccinations, there is no fail safe.

“[W]hile it’s reasonable to assume that HPV vaccination in girls and boys would protect against these cancers, there is as yet no evidence as to whether the current HPV vaccines are effective at preventing them,” Hiom said.

At Sunday’s AAAS meeting Bonnie Halpern-Felsher of the University of California San Francisco recommended that one solution might be to increase awareness and get doctors to discuss risks with their patients.

“Teens really have no idea that oral sex is related to any outcome like STIs (sexually transmitted infections), HPV, chlamydia and so on,” she said.

Theresa Riggi admits killing her three children

A mother has admitted killing her three young children at their Edinburgh home.

Theresa Riggi, 47, pleaded guilty to a charge of culpable homicide on the grounds of diminished responsibility. She was originally charged with murder.
Her eight-year-old twins Austin and Gianluca and their five-year-old sister Cecilia were found dead at their flat in Slateford Road on 4 August 2010.
They were discovered with multiple stab wounds after a suspected gas explosion at the property.
Sentencing of California-born Riggi, who denied recklessly causing the explosion, was deferred until 26 April.
The family had moved to the city from Skene in Aberdeenshire following the break-up of her marriage to the children's father, Pasquale Riggi.
Mr Riggi said in a statement, read out by a spokesman from Victim Support Scotland, that the children would live in his heart forever.
He said: "The loss of my three beautiful children has been an overwhelming tragedy.
"Nothing can be said at this or any other time which can mitigate what has happened.
"I and my extended family loved Austin, Luke and Cecilia dearly and they will live in our minds and hearts forever.
"I don't know what lies ahead but wherever life takes me, my friends and family, it will be with the memory of a dreadful loss and with gratitude for all the good times spent with Austin, Luke and Cecilia."
The High Court in Edinburgh heard that Riggi had been a protective mother who was involved in a custody battle with her estranged husband over access to the children.
The couple had spoken on the telephone 48 hours before the children were found dead.
During that conversation Riggi asked her husband if he was going to take the children away, to which he replied that she had left him no choice.
Riggi replied: "Say goodbye then" and then hung up the phone.
The court heard how the violinist stabbed each of her children eight times while a song called Angel was playing on a laptop. The name of the artist was given as Tess Riggi.

Alex Prentice QC, prosecuting, told how the children's bodies were found by building manager Derek Knight, who heard a loud explosion at about 1500 BST and saw smoke coming from the second-floor balcony doors.
He opened the garage door and turned off the gas, then returned to see Riggi on the second-floor balcony "screaming loudly".
He noticed she had two cuts on her neck and watched as she climbed on to the railings.
While neighbour Jordan Cochrane urged Riggi not to jump, Mr Knight made his way upstairs to the property where, after forcing entry, he found the bodies of the three children.
He then stepped over the bodies and opened the curtains to see Riggi lying on the ground.
The court heard that Riggi had intentionally fallen head-first from the balcony.
Mr Cochrane attempted to catch her and push her on to the bonnet of a nearby car to break her fall, and both fell to the ground.
Riggi was arrested in connection with the children's deaths after post-mortem examinations were carried out.
Personality disorders One hearing took place at a specially-convened court inside Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she was being treated.
Riggi told a hospital chaplain after the killings: "I want to be with my babies. I'm not meant to be here. I'm meant to be with my babies."

She was also heard speaking to her mother and saying that she had been saved for a reason and her "babies" were being looked after by God.
"She stated that she had a second chance and God had saved her in order to make her husband pay for what he did," said Mr Prentice.
Riggi also told the hospital chaplain that she had to protect the children and get away from "the evil".
Riggi still walked with a limp when she appeared in court on Monday.
Donald Findlay QC, defending, said a report into his client's mental state identified she was suffering narcissistic, paranoid and hysterical personality disorders.
He said: "At the time of the three children's deaths she was suffering from or was in the midst of an acute stress reaction."
'Wall of shock' Mr Findlay said only half the story had so far been told, and that Riggi had been intent on suicide on the day of the incident.
One of her friends, Amber Sebold, told BBC Scotland about the "wall of shock" she experienced when she heard about the killings.
"She (Riggi) always seemed very together. They were always immaculately dressed, very well cared for," she said.
"She clearly loved them very much, that was never in question."

Murder Suspect Charged With Sex Assault

The Milwaukee County District Attorney has charged a 17-year-old boy - who was already charged with killing a teenage girl - with sexual assault of a prison guard. Markus Evans, who will turn 18 years old later this year, faces a charge of fourth degree sexual assault. If he is convicted, he could face nine months in prison in addition to a conviction in his trial. According to the criminal complaint: A corrections officer said to Milwaukee Police that Evans was given a milk carton with a meal which he had back on February 17th, something which is against jail policy. The officer went to get the carton from Evans and ordered him to place arms in a chute to give the carton to the officer, so she could pour the milk into a cup for him. Instead, he allegedly grabbed the officer's private parts.

Pay-as-you-go Church

The consequences of the quest for quick results and the gullible nature of some Nigerians to believe any word spoken by self-proclaimed prophets and preachers came to the fore recently in Onitsha, Anambra State. Sunday Sun discovered a church where members are hypnotised into parting with their hard-earned money in exchange for “miracles”.
Located at Oraukwu community town hall, Silas Works Road, Fegge, Onitsha, is a new generation church, Land of Canaan and Calvary Deliverance Church, where God’s blessings are ‘bought’ for a fee.
Members of the congregation are brainwashed to make special offerings so as to attract God’s blessings.
At the Land of Canaan and Calvary Deliverance Ministry, the unofficial slogan of the pastor in charge is “pray, pray, pray, fast, fast, fast; God’s favours doesn’t go with praying and fasting, he goes by the price you pay. Pay the price and God will surprise you.”
Fed with this strange orthodoxy, members of the church pay different amounts of money to receive God’s favour. While the pastor smiles to the bank, the congregation wallow in poverty, hoping their moment of abundant wealth is around the corner.
Sunday Sun reporter gathered that prayers for breaking of ancestral curses in the church attracts a fee of N50,000 and above; special prayers for God’s favour, often done by selected “prayer warriors”, who are strict vegetarians, goes for N75,000; sowing of seed for abundant wealth costs N200,000, while fortification of a worshipper against misfortunes and accidents goes for N100,000, among other sundry charges members of the congregation are made to pay.
The Bible, in the book of Malachi, admonishes Christians to give 10 per cent of their earnings to God as tithe so as to attract more blessings, but in the House of Canaan and Calvary Deliverance Ministry, tithe is 20 per cent of one’s income so that “God will answer prayers and requests very fast.”
A former member of the church, Uche Nnebedum, is currently engaged in a mother of all battles with owner of the church, Pastor Ekenechukwu Chukwumerem, in his quest to recover N3.5 million he was allegedly fleeced by the church.
Narrating his ordeal, Nnebedum, who is the Director of Divine Favour Transport Company, said he had made a vow to recover everything the pastor deceitfully collected from him and also to expose the antics of other warehouse churches so that more people would not fall victim.

Encounter with the pastor
Nnebedum told Sunday Sun that he had met Pastor Chukwumerem in the quest for solution to some financial misfortunes he had suffered in his business.
“I was directed to the church by my own blood relation, Amaechi Nnebedum, who did not know that the pastor was not genuine. I told the pastor that I was looking for solution to my problems and he laid his hands on my head and later said that I was now at the final bus stop. He told me that if I wanted my problems solved, the church would embark on special prayers for me. The prayers, according to him, would be held by a band of dedicated prayer warriors at GRA, Onitsha. The group, he told me, eats selected fruits only and the price is N75,000. I foolishly paid the money and that was the beginning of my ordeal.”
‘You need a voice for God to hear you’
Continuing, Nnebedum said: “After paying N75,000, my problems increased, and when I told the pastor, again, he told me that I needed a voice that would speak for me so that God would hear me quickly. By this, he meant that God had directed that I should buy a complete set of loud speakers and public address system for the church.
“I bought a set of made-in-Nigeria speakers, but he rejected it until I bought imported ones, then he said the heavens had accepted my offering. He continued to brainwash me, telling me that if I could imagine how bright my future was, then I should not relent in doing whatever God said I should do. I know people who hear my story now will blame me or even ask whether I’m a fool, but they won’t know that I was under a spell then. He continued giving me false hopes and I continued sowing seeds and paying special tithes believing that things would soon get better, all to no avail.”

I borrowed money to pay tithe
“I continued to suffer in silence, to the extent that I sold my household items and started borrowing money to pay tithes. The pastor told me again that the next step was for breaking ancestral curses, which will cost N50,000. I paid the money and not quite long after that a friend gave me a luxury bus to manage. When I informed the pastor, he said I should sow a seed of N20,000 so that the heart of the friend who gave me the bus will be tender towards me.
“He also instructed me to surrender the first cash proceeds from the bus on its first trip. I did all these only for the vehicle to suffer brake failure on the first trip. It took three weeks before that bus made it to Abuja from Onitsha.

“If you are a good sheep, seek counsel from the shepherd”
According to Nnebedum, the pastor always tells the congregation to share everything about their private lives with him so that he could seek God’s view and tell them the outcome, and those who obey this injunction paid dearly for heeding this advice.
“Our greatest mistake was accepting to tell him everything about our lives. Whenever you told him about any problem you are having, he always found a way to convince you to part with more money.
“He convinced me that the luxury bus was a tool for greatness, which God sent to me. Even when the bus continued to break down, I was still spending money on it and also giving more money to him. The bus broke down again while on a second trip to Abuja after I had repaired it. The engine knocked. I complained to him. He became furious and said that I had offended the Holy Spirit by questioning its authority. As a punishment, he said I should do another thanksgiving of N50,000 if I ever want the vehicle to move again so as to placate the Holy Spirit.

‘Every word of mine is holyghostic’
“To confirm the efficacy of the pastor’s power, Nnebedum said he defied his directive to do another thanksgiving and borrowed money to repair the vehicle.
“Immediately the vehicle was put in order, my boys loaded passengers from Abuja to Onitsha only for the vehicle to suffer brake failure again. It lost control and rammed into a culvert in Zuba. Four other vehicles were also hit in the process and I came back to the pastor crying. He told me that every word that came out of his mouth was ‘Holyghostic’ and to solve that problem, I must do a grand thanksgiving.
“Still blinded by the spell cast on me, I borrowed money to buy a cow, household items, bags of rice, a television set, tubers of yam and another two giant loud speakers. He told me to monetise the cow for N60,000, so instead of presenting a live cow, I enclosed the cash equivalent in an envelope.”

The last straw that broke the camel’s back
“After presenting all the items, the pastor was very happy. Out of excitement, due to the abundant gifts, he declared to the congregation that God had accepted my offering and that henceforth, my bus would now be called “good night Onitsha, good morning Minna /Abuja”, meaning that our journey would be hitch-free.
“After opening the envelope, he later called my brother on phone to inform me that I should bring extra N30,000 to balance the money for the cow, since, according to him, N60,000 was not enough to buy a cow. The next day, the vehicle was loaded in Minna, heading for Onitsha only for the engine block to blow into pieces in Delta State.
“At that moment, I felt like dying. I had lost the will to live and the people I’m indebted to were already chasing me around because cumulatively, the so-called man of God had drained me to the tune of N3.5 million.
“My wife, who had been warning me to flee from that church, then saw my condition and invited her pastor to our home to speak to me. After counseling me, her pastor told me to run away from that church because the pastor was a fake man of God. There and then, an inner power came into me and I made up my mind to go and demand a refund of all I had given him. When I went to his house in Asaba, Delta State, and confronted him, his wife reprimanded me for talking to a man of God that way. When I told her to watch her tongue, she entered into the inner room and suddenly brandished an empty bottle and broke it on my head. With blood gushing from my head, I went to a nearby police station to lodge a report against him. I narrated everything to the police and he was arrested. After interrogation, he agreed to an amicable settlement and promised to refund everything to me. We fixed a date to meet for a final settlement.

Complainant became accused
“While Nnebedum was hoping to collect the cash and items given to the pastor within the one week as agreed, the matter took a dramatic turn when Ekene petitioned the Delta State Police Command headquarters and alleged that Nnebedum and policemen from B Division invaded his house and threatened his life, ordering him to surrender all the items Nnebedum had used for thanksgiving. He also questioned whether perishable or imperishable items brought to the house of God for thanksgiving could be reclaimed after weeks from the church.
“Though, I was the complainant in this matter, I was later summoned to appear at the Delta State Police Command headquarters. I was detained and later released on bail; but the pastor wasn’t done yet. He went further to sue me and the police at an Asaba High Court, asking for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights and an order restraining us from harassing him and his ministry. The matter has lingered because he has not appeared in court, but we are not perturbed.

Nemesis on its way
Investigation by Sunday Sun revealed that other members of the church are currently up in arms against the pastor.
As at the time of filing this report, the pastor has removed the signpost in front of the church and has gone underground. When this reporter called him on his mobile phone, the pastor, after acknowledging that he is the pastor in charge of the church, later denied himself. He said he was the pastor’s neighbour when the reporter identified himself and mentioned Nnebedum’s name. He refused to disclose his location and promised to get back to this reporter when the “pastor” returns. But he never did. Subsequent calls to his line were not answered.

Woman accuses pastor of N6.6m fraud

Rose Bello, a businesswoman, yesterday, told an Ikeja High Court how a pastor of the Four Square Gospel Church, Kehinde Akanji, allegedly defrauded her company of N6.6 million.
Bello, the Managing Director of BVM Productions, was testifying at the resumed trial of Akanji and his accomplices - Enoch Idris and Amuzie Oku-Ani, who were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a six-count charge of fraud and conspiracy.
The complainant alleged that Akanji had approached BVM Productions on May 13, 2008 with a proposal to help them secure a contract with the Nigeria Football Association (NFA).
“They told us that they were looking for a company that will handle the promotion aspect of the contract that they had secured with the NFA,” she said. “They told us that we will be producing television jingles and newspaper advertisements, T-shirts and also organize road shows in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.”
Subsequently, she said she procured a N7 million loan from her bankers, and sent her General Manager, Amos Ubini, to the suspects’ office - Communication Development Company (CDC) Ltd, Abuja - where he was introduced to other accused persons by Akanji.
“After paying the money into their account, we heard that the CDC directors wanted to execute the job themselves because they were running out of time,” she said. “But at the end of the day, they refused to give us the contract or refund our money.”
Earlier, under cross-examination, Ubini had told the court that Akanji was a senior pastor with the Four Square Gospel Church, Lagos. He claimed that he advised his boss to engage in the transaction based on the fact that the first accused is “a respectable man of God.”
Justice Olabisi Akinlade adjourned the matter till March 10.

Child Molester Undergoes Castration

A convicted child molester has undergone surgical castration in order to be released from prison on parole.

Francis Phillip Tullier, who had faced hundreds of molestation counts involving young girls, pleaded guilty to three counts in 1999 and was sentenced to 27 years in prison. He is now 78.

His lawyer, Nathan Fisher, said the deal stipulated that Tullier would only be eligible for parole once he underwent castration at his own expense.

A sheriff's investigator said the surgery was done Thursday after being delayed several years while Tullier was treated for various medical issues.

The Advocate newspaper reports that Tullier is due for release next week. He will live in Iberville Parish and has to register as a sex offender.

Currently in the Ugbowo campus of the University of Benin, the story of one female undergraduate, Efe is the gist among students as a live sex video of hers is being circulated around the campus. It has not only cause the 200 level Benin born young lady a great pain but also her close friends and family members as she has deserted the campus because of the social stigma. Efe who lives in Benin City with her parents attempted suicide but was lucky to have survived after her brother found her lying helplessly in the bathroom before rushing her to the hospital. The sex video was allegedly leaked by her closest friend, Kaine who is said to also live on campus. Efe and Kaine were said to be best friends before the incident. They were so close that everyone on campus knew them to be 5 and 6. While some say it was an intentional act, many others argued that she didn’t mean to expose Efe the way it happened. It is gathered that Efe had gone to Kaine’s house in Osasogie to spend the night. Since she didn’t go with her blackberry charger, Kaine offered that she can charge with her laptop because she also had to charge her phone. Later in the night, after Efe had slept off, Kaine was said to have downloaded the private pictures and sex video on her laptop without Efe’s knowledge. The next day she showed some of their other friends and they also copied it on their phone. Somehow Efe found out about it and had a fight with Kaine who deleted the video immediately and also requested that their two other friends delete the pictures and video. Innocently, Efe moved around campus not knowing the picture has been circulated among students. She was said to be in the classroom when she received sex video of herself and the next thing that came out of her mouth was ‘Kaine has killed me’. She ran out of the class and that was the last day she was seen on campus. Kaine who is at the centre of the controversy has also not shown her face on campus and this is because the guy seen ‘heading’ Efe in the video is a known cultist on campus and has threatened to deal with her if she ever steps her feet on campus again. Since the video leaked, sources close to Efe told us that being a resident of Benin has made it worse for her because the video is also in town and being a very popular person, she has found it difficult to bear the stigma. Her parents, we learnt have also seen the video with her father threatening to disown her. Sad and frustrated, Efe, few weeks ago attempted to take her life by taking some pills but was saved by her brother who found her lying on the bathroom floor and quickly rushed her to the hospital where she spent three days receiving treatment.

Hello everyone: first of all I want to say I am so so sorry for my absence from the relationship sector.... Hmmm about a week or two ago, I got a bb message from a friend that a woman had just stabbed her husband to death in Port Harcourt, Nigeria..... Not believing the story I had to call other sources to investigate the matter....only to find out that it was true...

This couple who just got married about 9months ago, had issues..The woman was the punching bag of her husband..On this particular day they had a fight because of the husband's sister, who had two failed marriages and had relocated into her brother's house, thereby assuming the position of madam of the house... The wife definitely not liking it complained and the beating started. Being in the kitchen, and working with knives, she picked up the knife and stabbed her husband on the shoulder (In defense)... he was rushed to the hospital but died shortly after...

The lady has since been arrested and charged with murder. Unless she has a good lawyer she will be convicted for murder. To add sand to her garri (as Nigerians will say) the lady is 3 months pregnant. What will she tell her unborn child? How will she live in Nigeria with this stigma?

This story is just so pathetic...first of all why did the man allow his sister to be in charge of his house...I even heard that the sister slept in the same room with her brother....How annoying...

I can feel the wife's frustration, but note this, her anger has led to the murder of the man she still says she loved....

But then again I am angry....

Why do women in Nigeria and other third world country have to suffer in marriage...

Why do they have to suffer the ills of society, Why are they treated as second class citizens etc..

Right now nobody is fighting for her..She has been considered a murderer and as such will be treated as one.....

An author once said " when angry never make decisions, for you will always regret later"....

Talk around: why did the woman become so cruel? why did she have to allow her anger to dictate to her...blah blah blah blah

It's easy for us to judge when it has nothing to do with us, but remember this it can happen to anybody....
